Think back on your life…think back on the people that have wronged you…could you forgive those that wronged or harmed you in the past? Could you forgive them if they essentially tried to destroy your life and the life of your loved ones?
The Devil in Pew Number Seven is the harrowing true story of Rebecca Nichols Alonzo’s childhood which is marred with violence, murder and ultimately faith while living in Sellerstown, North Carolina.
As I read this book it caused me to reflect inwardly and really think about my own feelings of forgiveness. Part of my Pre-Law studies in college was to study and analyze cases ranging from petty crimes to horrific murders. Even when justice seemed served with a prison sentence, I often wondered about the families of the victims, especially in the murder cases…how do they move on after such a terrible loss? Do they forgive the person (or people) that took the life of their loved ones? Rebecca Nichols Alonzo’s story proves that forgiveness is indeed possible and true freedom and peace can be achieved. Regardless of the religious belief of a person reading, The Devil in Pew Number Seven, it is a true story about the power of the human spirit that anyone can relate to. I highly recommend this book as its underlying theme of forgiveness and love cause introspection and evaluation of a one’s life.
