On April 1st we were graciously invited to be a participant at the IACP: The International Association of Culinary Professionals Expo & Conference roundtable sponsored by DuPont Teflon® Brand in New York City.
The “Are You Cook Aware?” roundtable featured national food and lifestyle celebrities, including Kelsey Nixon (host of the Cooking Channel series Kelsey’s Essentials), Lauren Braun Costello (host of AOL’s hit cooking series Pantry Challenge), Dr. Ro Brock (nutrition coach to the Dr. Oz Show), Janice Newell Bissex (co-Founder of MealMakeoverMoms.com), Kantha Shelke, PhD (editor-at-large for Penton Media’s Functional Ingredients) and us from Mami of Multiples and Mami Innovative Media!
We were delighted to be part of such a distinguished panel of experts to discuss the latest trends in purchasing, preparing and eating food. U.S. consumers are cooking more often, experimenting with food and using time in their kitchen to help save money and eat healthier. These findings are among the results of the March 2012 DuPont™ Teflon® brand Be Cook Aware consumer survey, conducted to understand how the past year’s trends have impacted America’s cooking and eating behaviors at home.
For example, compared to this time last year, for example, approximately three-quarters of consumers (72 percent) indicated ways in which they have changed how they cook and eat in their home. More than one-third of consumers (37 percent) reported they are cooking more often, and more than one-fourth (26 percent) are experimenting more with food. Others (23 percent) are eating more natural or organic foods and 19 percent are eating more frozen foods.
