The twins recently participated in their school’s Fun Run Boosterthon. Its a great family event where kids run and engage in outdoor activities to raise money for their school. This year it was to raise funds for a new playground for the 3 – 5th grades. Families and sponsors were invited to attend the family-friendly event to not only support their own child but encourage all of the children running for a great cause. As the kids ran laps, there were water & juice stations, live music and lots of cheering.
In preparation for the Fun Run, student began to learn how to “be brave” and live with character through Boosterthon’s character theme, Castle Quest. On their quest to regain Bravemore Castle, they learned about the “SIX VIRTUES of a TRUE HERO” from a cast of colorful characters. It was a day focused on fun, exercise, team building, school spirit and community involvement. As a mom, its important that my kids are healthy, learning moral characteristics and have a global mindset to help prepare them for their future. Juicy Juice is launching a Flavorful Fun Campaign, dedicated to helping families discover a new world of flavors through its popular 100% juice line.
Flavorful Fun is an online family-friendly website and with help from Chef Jeff Mauro, host of Food Network’s hit daytime show The Kitchen, Juicy Juice will unveil a Flavor Exploration website with exclusive content for families, including original recipes, helpful tips and an upcoming three-part video series. Available in 16 flavor varieties, the Juicy Juice 100% juice line offers kid-favorite flavors and juicy fruit combinations like Apple to Passion Dragonfruit and Orange Tangerine—a new world of flavor, during lunch time, snack time, the holidays and more. Beyond filling plates and nourishing bellies, flavorful foods can encourage kids to expand their taste palates, which is why Juicy Juice is highlighting the brand’s popular 100% line to make everyday family meals more flavor-filled and fun.
While on the website, parents and kids can play flavor-filled activities and games, like a fruit memory match game, and learn fun facts about global fruits inspired by all 16 of the brand’s 100% juice flavor varieties. Families can also unlock special Juicy Juice savings and spin the virtual Flavor Wheel for the chance to win daily prizes from February 5th through April 30th, including gift cards. All Juicy Juice products are made from real juice, with sweetness that comes only from the fruit and no added sugar. No high fructose corn syrup, no cane sugar and no artificial sweeteners make it better-for-you beverages that kids love and parents can feel good about.
Thanks to healthy inspiration from Juicy Juice, check out five easy activities to help you spend some fun (and healthy) quality time with your children:
Make and Eat a Meal Together Proven research shows that families, who eat together regularly, have happier, healthier children who perform better at school. When at the grocery store, ask children to help select foods that the family will be making at the kitchen. At home, encourage children to be involved in the cooking process or set the dinner table. Add some new juicy fruit combinations from Juicy Juice to make something fun and out of the ordinary. Create something that everyone can help making.
Plant a Family Garden Gardening is not only a way to grow flowers and food but also a way to connect with your family. A garden does not have to be perfect but you do want to teach your children how to do things the right way. Explain, show them how to do it and then let them do it. You will be amazed at what they can accomplish. For example, plant easy to grow fruits and vegetables, such as beans, cherry tomatoes and lettuce for younger children. Older children may relish in the challenge of harder plants like corn, potatoes, onions that take more work to start and cultivate.
Head to the Park Find a list of all the parks in your city and make a plan to visit as many as you can during the break. As part of the fun, pack a picnic. This way, your kids can still run around outside and you’ll all be ready for a nap afterwards. Check out the playgrounds or the trails, and then when home, place stickers on a map of your city identifying each parks and playgrounds you have visited.
Learn a New Sport Try yoga for the first time together, or take a dance class. If someone in the family is an expert at a particular sport have them teach the others how to play it. Take a morning, pack a picnic and go to the park to fly kites. It’s an activity both parents and kids enjoy. Take in the fresh air and get some exercise while playing with the kids. Check out your local YMCA for sports camps and recreational classes at ymca.net and ymca.net/camp.
Petting Zoos and Pick Your Own Farms are a fun family outing that provides access to animals, fruits and vegetables. Find local petting zoos and pick your own farms at pumpkinpatchesandmore.org and pickyourown.org.
