Summer is finally here! The kids are out of school and itching for fun things to do. Like many families, we are eager to start our summer off with a bang and there is no better way to do that than a family getaway.
We are so pleased to be counting down the days until we load up and take the 4 ½ drive North for a media review trip of the Grand Traverse Resort and Spa in Acme, Michigan. This will be our first visit to the 900 acre resort and we are excited about all the resort has to offer. Located in one of the most beautiful regions of Michigan, the resort gives us access to so much that Michigan has to offer.
The Grand Traverse Resort & Spa truly has something for everyone in the family. While doing my online research of the resort and area, I was pleasantly surprised that they offered so many kid-friendly options as well as options for a romantic getaway, golf retreat, or business. I am always looking for resorts where kids can be kids and the opportunities for fun are everywhere. It seems I have found that at the Grand Traverse Resort & Spa. My boys have already started planning out their time and checking out photos on extensive and detailed resort website. (A visit to the Indoor Water Playground and Private Beach Club ranks high on their list.)
After living in Florida for almost three years and spending at least 3 days a week in the water, Ryan and Liam are eager to get wet! With indoor and outdoor pools, as well as a sandy beach, you can believe the swimsuits are already packed. Upon further investigating of the website, it wasn’t long until photos of children’s fantasies were revealed: Dylan’s Candy Bar. Wall to wall candy, ice cream, and treats are all sure to please the young and young at heart. (I think my husband is excited about that one too.)
In case the kids want to get away from us “boring” grown- ups, there are youth activity camps with craft time, nature walks, and sports. We look forward to exploring all of the youth activities upon arrival and hopefully the boys will let me at least see the room first with all their excitement.
While the boys’ splish and splash with my husband, I plan to check out the 7000 sq ft Spa Grand Traverse. With a comprehensive menu of tantalizing spa treatments, the spa is already calling my name. My goal: the 50 minute Bamboo Massage. Ahhhhh…….
Besides sampling the expansive resort amenities, we also cannot wait to visit the local areas. The Grand Traverse Resort & Spa’s location allows visitors to spend time at the beach, visiting lighthouses, lakeshores and local wineries. Just a short 45 minute drive away is the Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore, which was named the “Most Beautiful Place in America” on ABC’s Good Morning America. With its 64 miles of beaches and more than 50,000 acres of land, it is a definite stop for us.
A visit to this part of Northern Michigan is just what we need to start our summer, and I cannot wait to share our experience with you. Follow the conversation online by using the hashtag #MOMKGTResort.
The Grand Traverse Resort boasts everything from vast meeting spaces to 3 championship golf courses, an expansive health club featuring indoor tennis courts, five restaurants and lounges, and close proximity to the beach, casinos, and local shopping. For an active family like us, what more could we want in summer getaway, except maybe more time to check it all out!
