So what’s the story behind my name–H2owalkerlife?
It all started with getting out of our “boat!”
Most people whether church goers or not have come across the reference of Peter walking on water with Jesus. For those who might not have read or heard this before you can find the story in Matthew 14: 22-23.
A brief overview of this amazing story starts with Jesus telling his disciples to get into the boat and head over to the other side, while Jesus went up a mountain to pray. Later that evening, the boat was now in the middle of the sea, tossed around by the waves and the storm was upon them. It says that it wasn’t until the fourth watch of the night, that the disciples saw Jesus walking towards them. By now they were in the middle of the sea—waters completely surrounding them. They grew fearful and immediately thought He was a ghost. Peter, one of His disciples, said “Lord, if it is You, command me to come to You on the water.” Jesus, said to Peter, “Come.” Peter climbed out of the boat and walked on water but when he noticed the winds picking up, he became scared and cried out to the Lord, “save me.” Jesus immediately stretched out His hand and caught Peter! The next verse says that Jesus tells Peter, “you of little faith, why did you doubt?” They both get back into the boat, and the wind ceased.
“H2owalkerlife” was birthed out of my family and I getting out of our boat. In June of 2015, Dan, the girls and I moved from Northern Virginia to Florida. It was a huge step of faith for us in completely trusting God for His calling on our lives. (One Little Yes) Walking on water always equates to the impossibility of a task and the faith it took for Peter to climb out of the boat filled with safety and comfort and being willing to take a step into an element of the unknown. This is exactly what Dan, the girls and I did just a few months back.
There are many storms in our lives that we all go through each and every day. There are situations that we plan for and it may not end up the exact way we thought it might, or you may be battling a sickness for years on end and/or struggling to make ends meet—But as the story taught us, the waves may crash on either side of us, the boat may viciously rock left to right, the winds may be howling and stirring about us so quickly that it picks us up off our feet and we have no idea where we may land. BUT the story shows us when we keep our eyes on Jesus we too can walk on water, the wind will cease.
In our life since we have taken that step out of the boat we remember that in our times of frustration, in our times of fear/doubt, and even in our times of great weakness of faith, Jesus comes walking above all circumstances that life throws at us! Keeping our eyes on Him to calm the winds and the waves that crash about us is what “H2owalkerlife” means to our family.
