I am blessed to start off the 2014 new year being featured and selected by Latina Magazine, the largest magazine edited by and for Latin women, as one of the “Latina Bloggers To Follow and Must Know in 2014“! Along with myself, the total 37 bloggers chosen will appear in the February 2014 print magazine edition, digital edition and Latina.com. (I continue to feel honored by Latina Magazine for selecting me in 2013 as one of “The 10 Best Latina Mom Bloggers on the Web“.)
I have been a long-time reader of Latina Magazine since its editorial debut issue. The publication has been a regular for me and has been through various stages of my life from singledom to marriage and now through parenthood.
Latina Magazine, was founded in 1996. With single readership of 2 million bilingual, bicultural women in the United States, today it is the largest magazine edited by and for Latin women. Since 2005 Latina has ranked No. 1 in total advertising pages among 38 Hispanic publications. Latina.com is the leading online destination for acculturated Latinas on the web, providing interactive forums, useful and interesting tools, unique content and a vibrant community that Latinas simply will not find anywhere else: the latest in Latin music, everything about Latin foods, can’t-miss Latin events in their cities, the newest on fashion, beauty and health and success tips specially created with their lives in mind.
I am humbled and thankful for being recognized for my work and efforts on Mami of Multiples. When I made the choice to finally become a WAHM/SAHM, I knew I was making the correct choice for my family but it was a difficult decision to make. I had worked outside the home most of my life – working summers at the World Trade Center in New York in my Father’s office; working during college; working while raising my oldest son; working for 10 years as a federal government public relations executive and spokesperson. When the twin boys arrived and with a growing son already, I wanted the chance to be able to be there for them full-time but also still contribute financially to my household.
It can be hard when working from home or when owning a small business to feel recognized or appreciated for your hard-working efforts. Income might not always be as steady as getting a paycheck every two weeks like when you are working in corporate America. You don’t always get to talk to co-workers throughout the day. You don’t always have someone to recognize and appreciate your talents and contribution.
Though any type of achievement, mention or positive notoriety is always wonderful and appreciated, it is a sweet self-worth feeling when the work (that is usually performed while trying to manage and balance children, a spouse, a household, extended family members, school activities, church responsibilities, a business, etc., at the same time primarily by yourself) is recognized.
THANK YOU y GRACIAS to all for your continued support – I deeply appreciate every view, read, click, comment, or share.
A warm congratulations to all the Latina bloggers chosen – your mompreneurial spirit inspires us all!
