As a daughter or son, we want our parents to stay active, healthy, vital and independent for as long as they can and that is especially true during their senior years. I’m in my early 30′s and with a young family, however, my parents are considered elderly or senior. My mother gave birth to me after she was in her late 30′s/close to 40 and I am the youngest of 4 siblings. Many years separate my siblings and I in age and also physical distance does as well. All of them are loving, caring, helpful and are available when big emergencies occur with our parents. I’m the only one that lives in a neighboring community to my parents so often the overseeing and caretaker role for my parents is designated to myself and my immediate family.
I have two very dynamic parents who during the course of their lives have broken many statistical stereotypes, personally and professionally. My parents are two people who have never relied on others and have been guided by an incredible work ethic and faith. My father, though 11 years older than my mother, is in better physical health and condition than my mother. Having lived in New York City most of our lives, my father loves to walk, is not a sweet eater, has always taken vitamins, organic medicine and still drinks many glasses of water everyday. My mother, though younger than my father, has been plagued with illnesses late in her life, including diabetes, high blood pressure, and kidney failure which led to her being on dialysis.
However, this year has brought some major medical issues with both my parents. My mother was hospitalized twice (and almost died) due to severe complications from her dialysis and heart issues which caused her to be in medical facilities for a 2 month period. (Thankfully and blessedly, she has recovered and continues to be at her own home.) A couple of weeks ago, my father fell down the staircase in his and my mother’s home. Given his age (and the fact that he has a pacemaker), the results from the fall could have been much worse, but he did suffer several broken several ribs, severe bruising around his body and damage to his teeth.
When you have two parents who have always been very strong and independent, it’s often an emotional devastation that occurs when an illness or an accident occurs that forces them to need help. My father has always been known as a walker but with this recent fall, he is going to need assistance on occasion with balancing himself and helping him with weak legs.
Thanks to Just Home Medical, a new online super store that carries a wide range of home medical products to caregivers and people with disabilities, conditions, illnesses and injuries, we were introduced to the Drive Adjustable Seat Height Rollator.
Ideal for individuals with balance problems and weak legs and knees, this Drive Rollator is easy to assemble and maneuver. The 6″ wheels easily navigate over uneven terrain, making this Rollator suitable for both indoor and outdoor use. The deluxe, loop-lock brakes provide additional safety, and the ergonomic handles are easy to grip.
Features:
- Universal height adjustment on frame allows seat height to be adjusted from 18″ to 22″ in 1″ increments.
- Comes with new seamless padded seat with zippered pouch under seat.
- Removable, hinged padded backrest can be folded up or down.
- Comes with standard carry pouch under the seat for added privacy and security of personal items.
- Easy to use deluxe loop locks.
- Serrated brakes.
- Ergonomic handles are easy to grip and are adjustable in height.
- Limited Lifetime Warranty.
My father, in particular, does not consider himself a ‘old man’ all the time (and especially not in front of me – his daughter). Consequently, due to the dynamic design of the Drive Adjustable Seat Height Rollator, I was so pleased that he saw it as a mobility tool that would continue to give him his independence by allowing him to use the Rollator whenever he feels like he needs the extra help when walking and being able to readily sit down on its padded seat when he needs the rest.

My dad could really benefit from the Drive Adjustable Seat Height Rollator.
He had a heart attack in December of last year which after having open heart surgery has made it hard for him to get around and get up and down. This would definitely be a blessing for him.

I would like to have this item for myself. I have premature artery disease and have stents to open the arteries into my legs. The stents have become blocked with clots and walking is very painful. A walker would allow me to stop and rest when I need to and give me something to lean on while walking. Thanks for the awesome giveaway opportunity. Keep up the terrific blogging.
