Middle School! The pre-teens era. No longer “babies” in grade school
and not yet teenagers in high school. Tonight was Joseph’s orientation
at his new middle school for the students and parents. Sitting in the
school, I was filled with some butterflies in my stomach. The middle
school is big – with lockers, many different classrooms, homeroom
teachers, 2 cafeterias…the list goes on! This is not elementary
school but it is part of the growing process for children…and for
Mom. It was not that long ago I was roaming the hallways of middle
school and trying to open my locker, which I could never open. Knowing
Joseph is taking another step closer to being a teenager scares me. I
still see him the age of the twins, 21 months old and love watching
Elmo. Now, it’s WWE Wrestlers, the NBC Today show, and the Yankees.
The middle school pledge to the student reads, “You Can Do It! This Is
Important! We Won’t Give Up On You!”
It’s a reminder that he is growing up and that I’m growing with him,
too.
