The holiday season is fast approaching and with it our gadgets and technical devices are put into high gear. Capturing the moments of festivities with family members and cooking favorite holiday meals is an essential part of the holidays. However, something that can put a damper on the holiday spirit is when heavily relied upon gadgets and appliances stop working properly.
Can you imagine if your oven doesn’t heat enough to cook your holiday ham? How about when you are taking your family photo to include in your holiday card to friends and family in front of your lighted Christmas tree and the flash on the camera stops working? I remember a few years ago, I tried to record a video of my parents making a traditional Spanish holiday dish, and my video camera froze and would not record – it was so frustrating and disappointing that I couldn’t record something special to me!
Asurion launched October Is Protection Month to help consumers learn about ways to prevent these unexpected expenses with their devices and gadgets. According to Asurion data, more laptops, digital cameras, video game systems and TV’s experience issues in November than any other month. (Asurion 2013 Claim Data)
-
Cameras: 48% increase
-
Notebook PC’s: 35% increase
-
TV’s: 25% increase
-
Video Gaming Systems: 51% increase
As part of Asurion’s month-long campaign, the company launched new educational tools, including ProductProtection.com. The site features helpful resources such as “Weighing the Cost“ and other articles that dispel misperceptions.
It is also home to “How Will Your Stuff Die,” a one-of-a-kind celebration of how technology enables our everyday lives. It uses consumers’ real-life activities, hobbies and interests combined with Asurion’s industry expertise to create personalized predictions of how items may meet their untimely demise.
Simply by connecting with a Facebook profile, the “How Will Your Stuff Die” innovative concept will help a consumer determine the longevity of their most used gadget. The tool generates predictions across ten categories based on the user’s Facebook profile, posts and likes. Each category features 20 or more potential pitfalls for more than 100 quintillion possible outcomes, so no two results should be the same.
In honor of October is Protection Month, Asurion asks for help in supporting another leading organization that is always there to help people get back up and running, the Red Cross. Visit ProductProtection.com and take the “How Will Your Stuff Die” assessment. Asurion will donate $1 to the Red Cross to provide support where the need is greatest for each prediction thru Nov. 3, up to $25,000.
