What is tough?
If you research the definition of the word tough, it says its “…strong enough to withstand adverse conditions or rough or careless handling…or…enduring considerable difficulty or hardship; requiring great determination or effort….”
As humans we are all connected by similar stages in our lives. Some of those stages in life are periods of extreme difficulty that require a lot of mental, physical and spiritual toughness to help overcome the circumstances. Starting from the physical toughness of bringing a new life into the world at childbirth through the mental and spiritual toughness of losing a loved one, being a tough is not only a state of mind but really a part of the common human experience.
Throughout my pregnancy with my identical twin boys, my husband was stationed with the Army overseas. Though I was happy for the blessing of being pregnant with twins, it was difficult not to experience the pregnancy with my spouse. He missed mostly everything (doctors’ appointment, seeing ultrasounds, watching the belly grow, shopping for the babies, baby showers etc) and he arrived one week before I gave birth.
I was extremely overjoyed that he arrived in time to see the boys be born. Being pregnant with twins – still caring for my then 10 year-old son, working full-time in an influential and highly visible job, volunteering with the Army National Guard’s FRG (Family Readiness Group), church and family responsibilities – all while worrying for my spouse overseas was tough (even though I was fortunate to have family support and the end result of our double bundles of joy).
Members of the armed forces and their families face real struggles of life and death situations daily with incredible bravery and strength. I am so pleased to once again partner with Brawny Towel Papers to share the news about their partnership with the Wounded Warrior Project (WWP).
Brawny Towel Papers is renewing its partnership with Wounded Warrior Project (WWP). for the third year. The Brawny brand has donated $1.4 million to the Wounded Warrior Project, which, it says, shares the same brand spirit and values: an inner strength that emboldens and inspires people to be “Tough to the Core”. WWP helps wounded servicemen and women adjust to civilian life and persevere through the visible and invisible wounds of war.
HOW YOU CAN SUPPORT
Tough is so much more than physical strength. For some, it’s about being resilient. For others, it means showing compassion.
Tell Brawny what “tough” means to you and the Brawny brand will donate $1 to WWP for every text or photo submission, and for $5 for every video (up to $350,000).
You can share your definition and donate using the hashtag “#ToughIs” on Facebook, Instagram or visit www.brawny.com/wounded-
